Ideally, I would love/prefer that the father of the child being born is in the room with the mother as this is a very special moment and the start of a New Beginning for your family. I will only be in the room by/at the request of the mother or father.
As a Lactation Peer Counselor, I Do Not:
Perform any clinical tasks
Make decisions for you
Speak to the staff on your behalf - (Optional depending on the situation at hand)
Project any of my own beliefs onto your experience
As a lactation Peer Counsellor I understand that every pregnancy, mother and baby are different and so are your beliefs, concerns and questions. It is with this understanding that I hope to earn your trust and respect.
